Description

This SOP applies to a few clients that has Mail01 and Exchange hosted by us and the Mail01 account is being forwarded to the Exchange account (for example mike@soaresmasonry.com, mike@sgbuildersllc.com).

Info

Before setting up with the client, do a SRV lookup with the following format _autodiscover._tcp.[domain]

  1. If the Autodiscovery has not been set up / set up on the domain pointing to another server, DNS record needs to be updated to point to Smartt before you can set up Exchange (refer to SOP)

  2. Once the Autodiscovery set up, proceed to step #2.

Instructions

  1. Confirm the client’s Exchange account credential is correct by logging into https://exch01.smartt.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&reason=2&url=https%3A%2F%2Fexch01.smartt.com%2Fowa

    1. If incorrect, reset the Exchange account password. Confirm if the new password works and proceed to step #2.

  2. Go to Control Panel > Mail.

    1. Click on "Show Profiles".

    2. Click on "Prompt for a profile to be used" to have Outlook prompt you to choose what account you wish to use when starting up (this is best if you have multiple accounts).

    3. Click "Add..." to begin setting up a new profile.

      1. On the New Profile window, enter a profile name you will recognize (such as (for example "Smartt Exchange").

      2. Click OK.

      3. Under Add Account > Auto Account Setup > Select Email Account

      4. Type the client’s name, email address, and password.

        1. For username: use [user]@exchange.[domain.com] as listed in the forwarding settings in Mail01 as the email address.

        2. For password: use the exchange Exchange account password.

      5. Wait for the 'Searching for user settings' process.

        1. When Outlook searches and prompts for the login, click on ‘More options’.

        2. Change the username to [user]@[domain].com]

        3. Enter the Exchange password.

        4. Tick the Remember my credential.

  3. To confirm if it works, send a test message to support@smartt.com.

    1. Make sure the sender email display the [user]@[domain.com] format and not [user]@exchange.[domain]
