ADSL Set Up For Windows 98/95

Windows 98/95 configuration:

  1. Click on your Start Menu then on Settings then Control panel.

  2. In your Control Panel double click on Network

  3. This
    will bring up your Network panel. Click on the Configuration tab then
    highlight your TCP/IP ethernet adaptor (not the TCP/IP dial up adapter)

  4. Once Highlighted click on the properties button.

  5. Your TCP/IP properties should appear. Click on the IP address tab

  6. Select Specify an IP address. This should allow you to type in your static IP address into the provided field. Type in the IP address and Subnet Mask numbers that were given to you by Smarttnet. Make sure that the information is identical to what you were given.

  7. Then click on
    the WINS configuration tab. In this tab Disable WINS Resolution should
    be selected, if it is not, please select it.

    Then
    click on the Gateway Tab. Under New gateway type in the Gateway IP that
    was given to you by Smarttnet. Make sure that this number is identical
    to what you typed. Click on Add. This will cause the numbers to be moved
    into the installed gateways field.

    Click
    on the DNS Configuration tab next and select Enable DNS. Where it says
    Host type in Smarttnet and in the Domain field type in http://smartt.com . Under
    DNS Server Search Order type in the following numbers: 69.31.170.249
    then click on Add and then type in (in the same field) 69.67.177.249 and
    click on Add again. The two sets of numbers should both appear in the
    larger window below.

  8. Click on Ok then Ok again. Your computer should then ask you to restart, if this window appears click Yes to restart. If it doesn't appear you should restart your computer and the process will be complete.
